The Safer North West Leicestershire Partnership is running a project with a view to: –

a) improve the response to domestic abuse and b) enable the community to access help and support more easily when they need it.

The project is called ‘Change that Lasts’ and involves local people receiving training to become ‘Domestic Abuse Ambassadors’.  Research highlights that communities are often the first to know about abuse which is taking place and can act as the ‘gate openers’ for people needing to seek support. Victims and survivors of domestic abuse are much more likely to confide in people they know and trust.

National charity ‘Women’s Aid’ is partnering with them on this project and will be delivering their renowned ‘Ask Me’ training course over 2 days on 13th and 14th March 2024 at Thringstone Members Club, Loughborough Road, Thringstone LE67 8LR. The course aims to improve your knowledge and understanding around domestic abuse and ultimately enable you to signpost local people for support if needed.

Following the course a local network will be established with support provided by the Community Safety Team at North West Leicestershire District Council. There is no ongoing time commitment after completing the course. Participants will need to complete both days of the course. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  There is no cost involved as it is fully funded.
