Leicestershire County Council is currently carrying out its annual surface dressing programme, with works continuing until September, weather permitting. Warm, dry conditions are needed to ensure the treatment bonds effectively with the road surface.
Surface dressing is a preventative maintenance treatment that helps prevent potholes, improves skid resistance and extends the life of the road network.
What to Expect:
Dust and Road Sweeping Following treatment, some additional dust may be noticeable during hot, dry weather while the new surface settles. Roads are swept daily, with sweepers using fine water jets to help minimise dust.
Road Markings Road markings are reinstated in stages over several weeks. Motorists are asked to follow temporary 10mph speed limits while works are completed. This helps keep loose chippings in place and protects road users, vehicles, and property.
Quality and Safety All works are carried out in accordance with national standards, with additional measures used to maximise stone retention and provide a durable, long-lasting road surface.
Thank you for your patience while these essential maintenance works are completed.
