More than £200,000 of Energy Rebate remains unclaimed across North West Leicestershire, and eligible households are being urged to cash in their £150 vouchers.

In June, North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) sent a Post Office pay-out voucher to more than 11,000 homes with a council tax banding of A – D for them to claim their £150 rebate. The rebate is not a loan and does not have to be paid back

Households are being reminded to act now so they don’t miss out, as more than 1,500 homes have yet to claim their funds.

Most residents that pay their council tax by direct debit received the rebate automatically, paid directly into the bank account that the direct debit comes from. But households that do not pay their council tax by direct debit, or whose council tax accounts didn’t match bank details, were sent the pay-out letters to claim the cash.

The letters featured a barcode, valid for three months, allowing the person named on the council tax bill to claim the funding from any Post Office branch.

Residents who don’t use the voucher by 30 September will miss out on the £150 rebate.

If you know of a neighbour, family member, friend or someone you work with who hasn’t cashed in their voucher, remind them that they will miss out after 30 September.
