Whitwick Parish Council would like to thank everyone involved in the D-Day 80th Anniversary Parade and Beacon Lighting Commemoration Event kindly organised by Whitwick Scout Group, in association with the Royal British Legion, on Thursday 6th June 2024.
Following the service at St John the Baptist Church and laying of wreaths at the War Memorial, there was a huge torch lit procession of flag bearers representing all 11 countries, through the centre of Whitwick up to the Scout Field, where the Beacon was lit, The International Tribute was read and the evening concluded with a magnificent firework display.
It was amazing to see all the generations involved and the fantastic support from residents and families of the participants. A day to remember!
